Screenwriters are problem-solvers. When characters are placed in settings with obstacles, a writer must find a believable but inevitable mix of events to make for a compelling story. Introduction to Screenwriting 11 is different from other screenwriting courses and resources as it provides students with insights into the practical problems that a screenwriter typically has to solve. A student can have all the knowledge and information about crafting a screenplay, but it is only when she gets a sense of the real problems involved in writing, will she be well prepared to write a screenplay.
This survey course walks with a student as she develops a screenplay from idea to final draft. The course discusses all essential components for the creation of a successful screenplay. Topics include Format, Story Structure, Character Development and Cast Creation, Dialogue, Theme, Story Theory and advanced techniques like Scene Crafting.Enrollment Information
